Who says that?!

Have you ever heard yourself say something to your spouse, your children … whatever … and thought, “Who says that?” This happens to me at least once a day. Today was a perfect example. As you know, we are renovating the house. So Jonathan was being a good big brother and entertaining Kaleb outside. They were playing with Kaleb’s swords and daggers that came with his Halloween costume. He was a ninja, in case you were wondering. So they were playing … slashing, stabbing, swashbuckling, etc. … then out of my mouth came the words, “No knees to the head, please.” Seriously?! Who says that? No knees to the head? Please?? As if it’s okay to pretend to cut off each other’s hands, but let’s draw the line at head injuries. And the “please.” Always the polite mom, teaching the lesson to ask nicely, not demand. Shesh. The things we hear ourselves say, and then ask, “What the heck?”.
